Fiestas de San Juan y San Pedro

From June 23 to 29, they are the patron saint festivities of the Villa. They have an emblematic act: The Tremolation or Fluttering of the flag, which is performed in the Capilla del Pilar to be repeated on the main altar before the image of Saint John the Baptist. The festivities also enjoy numerous popular and recreational events (ball, heifers ...) and dress in color with the typical dancers of Laguardia having their central character in the figure of the Cachimorro.

Santiago

On July 25, Santiago day, the Peñas de Laguardia celebrate their Brotherhood day. All the festive acts that take place to celebrate the saint are enjoyed by the members of the Peñistas in friendly union. The city council, in addition to the verbena of the previous day, organizes the traditional heifer enclosure through the streets of the town and the rocks during the day with their txarangas set the town. A brotherhood meal serves as the finale to the party.

Día de la Virgen

The dawn song was a custom and habitual practice in many parts of the world. Its origin cannot be specified, nor the reason for its introduction in Alava.

The term aurora in this context must be interpreted in two ways: denotative and metaphorical. Denotatively by the word aurora we mean the rosy light that precedes sunrise. She is the announcer of the astro-king. Therefore, the rosary that bears his name was the one that was sung at dawn. Metaphorically, the dawn is Mary, forerunner of the coming of her son Jesus, who is the sun.

The Rosario de la Aurora is celebrated during the novena in honor of the Virgen de los Reyes, and in honor of the Virgen del Pilar, from August 14 to 22 and from September 7 to 15 respectively.

The rosary is preceded by the singing of some verses. They are songs in honor of the Virgin and constitute the invitation or call to the Rosary.

In Laguardia two verses are sung, some in honor of the Blessed Virgin of the Kings, and others in honor of the Blessed Virgin of Pilar.

In addition, on August 14 and 15, there are festive events including a brotherhood meal open to the public.

San Juan Degollado

The Brotherhood of San Juan 'Degollao', brotherhood with a defensive origin of the walls and therefore essentially warrior, celebrates its day on August 29.

This party, in some way, constitutes the finishing touch to the summer season in Laguardia.

Typical of this day were the 'Dance of the Troqueados', that of the 'Arcos', and the 'Jota de Laguardia'.

Romeria Berberna

On the first Saturday of September, the traditional pilgrimage to Berberana is celebrated.

This small Romanesque hermitage of the Virgen de Berberana, is located on the southern slopes of the Sierra de Cantabria, about two and a half kilometers from the Sotillo dolmen, and about three kilometers from the Villa, and has in its surroundings a forest of oaks.

This festivity is not exclusive to Laguardia, but all the towns in the area come to spend a pleasant day, in contact with nature, enjoying the various activities that are organized.

This park has a continental climate strip and its woodland is made up of pine, oak and gall.
